Elaine Russell has taught voice and performance at Hunter College in New York City, Adelphi University in Garden City, Long Island, New York, Keene State College in New Hampshire, and Johnson State College in Vermont.
With the Western Wind, she has taught singing workshops at the Omega Institute, Dartmouth College, Smith College, Penn State University, the Eastman School of Music, Vassar, The Open Center, and in venues in Italy and Singapore.
She had a private voice studio from 1975 to 1988 in New York City.
She believes in working spontaneously with whatever issues present themselves and focusing on the particular intentions of the student.
